Stevie Nicks And Lindsey Buckingham’s Rare Pre-Fleetwood Mac Album Might Finally Hit Streaming, Teasers Indicate

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are essential members of Fleetwood Mac, making it easy to overlook that they joined the band relatively late in its history: The first album they contributed to as official members was the group’s self-titled release in 1975, which was their tenth overall. Prior to that, they were a duo and had put out one album together, 1973’s Buckingham Nicks.

This release has been dubbed a “lost album,” and both Nicks and Buckingham have largely moved on from it: It’s not available on streaming services and according to Discogs, it was never officially released on CD.

However, it seems the album may be getting a second chance.

Recently, Nicks and Buckingham posted matching lyrics from their song “Frozen Love” on Instagram (here and here). Additionally, a billboard has been spotted showcasing the album’s cover art and hinting at a release date of September 19, which appears to confirm that the album is set to be reissued.

In a 2011 interview, Nicks reflected on the album, stating, “Lindsey and I were nearing the end of our relationship, and I had met someone new. […] This was a year after Buckingham Nicks was released, which received critical praise, but Polydor dropped us like a hot potato. So we found ourselves back at square one. It was the only time I ever felt that music might not be in my future. I even discussed with my parents the possibility of going back to school, as I was exhausted from juggling being a cleaning lady, a waitress, and a rock’n’roll star all at once. We were really struggling financially. […] But by the end of that year, Mick Fleetwood had invited us to join Fleetwood Mac, without having seen us perform. Keith Olsen had played him Buckingham Nicks and informed him that Lindsey and I came as a package.
