Orlando Bloom began his week with an uplifting message after his breakup with Katy Perry.
“The key is to take that initial step,” the 48-year-old actor shared on his Instagram Story on Monday, June 30. “Courageously facing one small fear empowers you to tackle the next one.”
Bloom attributed his reflection to “daily encouragement” from Daisaku Ikeda, a Buddhist writer.
Before sharing Ikeda’s wisdom, Bloom also posted another motivational quote from Buddha.

“Every day is a fresh start. What we do today is what truly counts,” the quote stated.
Bloom’s optimistic message comes just days after Us Weekly confirmed that he and Perry, 40, ended their engagement after nearly ten years together.
“Katy and Orlando have parted ways but remain on good terms,” a source close to the couple exclusively told Us at that time. “It’s not a hostile situation right now. Katy is understandably upset but feels relieved to avoid another divorce, which was the most challenging period of her life.”
Perry and Bloom had an on-and-off relationship before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019. The following year, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020. (Bloom is also the father of 14-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.)
According to the insider, Perry and Bloom’s separation was “a long time coming” as their relationship “had been strained for months.” Bloom and Perry had been living apart since the pop star began her Lifetimes tour earlier this year.

Since the breakup, Perry has found comfort in her work, staying “busy” on tour. (The singer is currently in the midst of her tour dates in Australia.)
Bloom, on the other hand, was recently seen in Venice, Italy, celebrating Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding over the weekend. (Perry is also close friends with Sánchez, having joined the journalist on their space journey earlier this year.)
