The most recent album by Deftones is 2020’s Ohms, and although it has been almost five years since its release, it appears that a new album is on the horizon.
During a recent appearance on The Dr. Greenthumb Show (as noted by MetalSucks), Everlast joined Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter and remarked:
“As we embrace this kind of, you know, flower-throwing attitude, this man has a record set to release much sooner, in August, from which I have just heard a few tracks. [It] sounds as if the Deftones all stepped into time machines, emerged, and entered the studio last week, feeling youthful and vibrant. That album is incredible, man; all three [tracks] I heard… It’s going to be a fantastic musical summer for those who appreciate our work. Or summer for them; for you and me, likely the end of the year.”
Son Doobie from the hip-hop group Funkdoobiest also commented during the same interview, “The music you played, Steph, [Carpenter] consistently shares what he is working on with us. And, man, those tracks are phenomenal. And, as I mentioned, man, Chino [Moreno] sounds outstanding… Just on point, man, and sharp, man.”
Nevertheless, the band has not provided any official confirmation regarding the release of a new album.
